SIZE: TOY | AGE: 13 YEARS | GENDER: FEMALE
After several days of rapidly declining health, Phoebe’s foster mother held her in her arms as she went to be with her Mom at the Rainbow Bridge yesterday afternoon.
Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes and thank you to Phoebe’s foster mother who did all she could to comfort.
Rest in peace, Phoebe.
UPDATE: Phoebe is having some neurological issues and is going in for an MRI this week. Please keep Phoebe in your thoughts while the doctors try to figure out what’s wrong with her. If you’d like to make an Angel Donation to help cover her medical expenses, please click below.
Phoebe was surrendered after her mom passed away. She has adapted quite well to her new foster home. She loves to walk on a leash, prancing along like a youngster, and sleeps through the night on her own bed. Although she gets along with other dogs, she doesn’t need them to be happy. In her previous home, she was an only dog and very much loved, so she would probably like a home where she has a new mom all to herself.
We are looking for a forever home where someone is home most of the day, since that’s what she’s used to. Phoebe has lots of personality and would be a loving and devoted companion. She’s a senior, but you’d never know it! She’s very healthy and is still quite curious, as she explores the outdoors. We, at Poodle Rescue of New England, know that age is only a number, for many of our toy poodles have lived well into their late teens.
If you’re interested in adopting Phoebe, please submit an application. She is being fostered in Massachusetts. You won’t be sorry!

Feel better soon, Phoebe! You’re in good hands now!

years. Fifi was surrendered to PRNE in November of 2008. She was a diabetic toy poodle who was taken to the vet to be euthanized because her elderly owners didn’t want to deal with her diabetes. Fifi was obese but the vet felt she could have a good life. His vet tech took her home but realized she wasn’t able to care for her and took her to a shelter. The shelter director brought her home to her mother where Fifi remained for the next year. However, she became ill and was no longer able to care for her so she went to stay with her other daughter who wasn’t able to commit the time needed to provide for Fifi and contacted us to take her in.
Josh came into foster care when he was rescued from a backyard breeder. He is learning what it means to live in a house where his only job is to be cared for and loved. Josh is friendly with other dogs and is building bonds with his foster brothers and sisters.
Zach is a tiny, emaciated boy who shakes all the time. Almost all his teeth had to be removed due to dental neglect. The remaining ones were left because Zach’s body is so calcium depleted his jaw would have broken if the remaining teeth were extracted. His anal glands were so impacted that the fluid had hardened. Zach had a severe infestation of whipworms which contributed to a skin condition. He has been treated for the whipworms and we hope his skin will begin to improve. Zach’s knees are fused because of luxating patellas. He is blind in one eye. Despite the severe neglect he has suffered, he is a very sweet and affectionate dog.
