Sadie – permanent foster

Permanent – Foster | Female | poodle-mix | 12-13 years

Sadie, Sadie... pretty lady!

Sadie, Sadie… pretty lady!

Sadie was found in a vacant lot terribly matted, covered with fleas, blind and barely able to walk.  She was taken to the local shelter where it was determined that she was a diabetic and needed insulin. Unfortunately, the shelter wasn’t able to start her on insulin since there was no way to monitor her and so Sadie waited  several weeks before they were able to find a rescue willing to take her.  Once in our care, we were able to regulate her blood sugar levels and she was spayed and had several mammary tumors removed.  Unfortunately, we found another tumor in Sadie’s abdomen which was cancerous.  We had it removed and will make her as comfortable as possible .  We don’t know how long Sadie will be with us but she will remain in her foster home where she is loved and very much a part of the family.

We’ll never know why Sadie was dumped and left for dead out on the streets. She was definitely someone’s companion before ending up in such a sorry state and now she’s our very special girl!

Please consider an angel donation to help with Sadie’s care.  She requires two insulin shots a day and regular veterinary care.  She loves her foster brothers and sisters and is the first one to greet you when you walk through the door!

Cricket

Size: Mini-20 lbs | Age: 10 Years | Gender: Female

Cricket is still hopeful that there’s a home out there with her name on the door.  She’s been in foster care for a while now and can’t understand why two simple shots a day are scaring adopters away!  She truly has a remarkable spirit and determination.  She loves nothing more than to please her foster mother. Cricket adores going for rides in the car, walks beautifully on a leash and is a perfect house guest when she visits friends.  In case you can’t guess from her photos, Cricket LOVES stuffed toys!

Cricket does require insulin shots twice a day, 12 hours apart.  It’s very important for diabetics to have a schedule and to stick with it.  She eats twice a day and enjoys a few treats in between.

Cricket is being fostered in Massachusetts and her adoption donation is $300.  If you’re interested in adopting Cricket, please read our Adoption Process and fill out an application.

Polly

Polly, female miniature poodle | Age: 8 years| 25 pounds

Polly is a sweet mini poodle who was given up when her owner passed away suddenly. Polly bonds well with people but is not fond of other dogs and cats so a home where she can be the only princess and get all the attention is what she’s looking for.

Polly came in overweight so we had her tested for Cushing’s Disease.  She tested positive and has just started the medication.  She’s doing well on it and will enjoy many years to come!  Polly had endured a lot of change in the past two months but she eases into new situations gracefully.

Polly is looking for someone who will follow-up with her medical treatment and previous knowledge of  Cushing’s would be helpful.  Cushing’s is not a death sentence and Polly has many years to come!  If you think you can provide her with their perfect forever home, please fill out an application.

Peppy

Permanent Foster| Age: 16 years | Gender: Female

Little Peppy is a 12 pound, 14 year old Schnauzer Dachshund Poodle mix who was left homeless after her owner passed away. Poodle Rescue of New England stepped in and rescued her. She is on a special diet (Hills i/d) due to a sensitive stomach. She likes to go for walks and run in the yard.  Peppy is a very special Senior Girl who is happy with her foster parents.  Please consider making an Angel donation to help with her care.
